Recent events omens of things to come for sales tax referendum? 8/8/02 Editor: A couple of significant anti-tax events occurred this week that have some interesting implications for the November elections and tax referendums. As you probably know, the anti-sales tax increase candidate in Fairfax for the vacant VA senate seat won with 55 percent of the vote in an election that was largely about the November tax increase referendum. More significantly, a similar referendum on the ballot in Missouri on Tuesday lost by a staggering 3 to 1 margin. See Post Dispatch story. Ronald Utt |
